Areya's class had a field trip to a Nature Center to learn all about bugs. We learned a lot of really interesting facts. Did you know that lady bug wings go around like a helicopter? or that there is over 5000 different types of lady bugs? One lady bug can lay up to 1000 eggs in it's 1 to 2 year life span.
Then they learned about grass hoppers. Did you know that they can jump 3 times their body length? Crazy right. So all the kids lined up and tried to jump 3 time their own height.
We learned that you can tell the difference between butterflies and moths by it's antenna. Also that butterflies have scales on their wings.
We found out boy bees are only good for 2 things making babies and eating. But when winter comes the girls get their pay back by kicking the boy bees out.
Then we got to go outside and look for decomposers. In one year a earth worm can make one inch of dirt around the whole earth. Just remember the next time you dig in the dirt your touching decomposers poo. He guy pick some up and had each kid touch it then told them that. The look on their faces were priceless.
