Waren Township Park

We took the whole gang to the park. This park is amazing with so many fun things to do and lots of super fun equipment. The boys loved loved loved playing in the sand and water.

Tj and Areya had a race to the top of the rope tower.

Beau and Taevin sure love their grandpa, and I know my dad was loving every minute of it too.

Sawyer hanging out in the shade with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Lizzy.

Tj, who never really grew up, was running around playing tag and keeping the kids busy. He is a great Uncle and father and the kids love chasing him around.

The gang minus Shaylee our photographer and Damian who had to work.

Nauvoo Illinois / Matt & Amanda Sealing

At the beginning of June Matt and Amanda were sealed in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple. My parents, Tj, Shaylee and their boy along with some of Amanda's family made the trip over. We meet them down there and all stayed in one of the old houses. (it's next to the shoe shop)   It was a tight squeeze but we all fit. The kids all shares a loft space and were all over the place and each other.

We spent a good part of the first day playing at the park and exploring the town. Oh, and trying to find some where to eat. Most of the places to eat were only open certain hours, which did happen to be when we wanted to eat. And if you're thinking we just should have grabbed some fast food then like us you've never been there. NONE of the regular places to eat. Only local restaurants.

That night we caught one of the shows/plays and was enjoying a dance group from BYU when the rain started, the stage became to slippery, and the rest of the show was canceled.

The next morning was the sealing. Two families from our ward made it down along with a friend, from Utah, and his family. Since Damian and I can't attend the ceremony we played nanny to 8 kids 9 and under. I bet you know who did most of the watching. (oh and don't forget that i'm about 6 months pregnant)

Later we did some exploring and took a few tours. The wagon rides were really neat. (well the one I attended was) I was really hot and humid and poor Taevin just couldn't handle it. So he, Damian and I all skipped out on the second tour and headed back to the house to cool off and catch a little zzzzzz.

The last day we visited a few more of the houses/buildings and then drove to carthage jail. Since it was Sunday they don't run as long and we missed the beginning but we were able to take the tour.

It was neat to learn about so much church history and you could really feel the spirit.
We all drove back up to our house in Ingleside for a few more days of fun.

Dare Devil's Flight

June 26, 2013

Taevin was a wild man a decided to stand up in a chair while Aniela was spinning it. I bet you can guess what happened. Yep, he went flying, landed hard and broke his arm. He had a Supracondyler Humerus fracture  and needed surgery to repair it.

I was napping (6 months pregnant) and my mother in law was watching the kids. She came upstairs holding Taevin who was crying and wouldn't stop. I took him, held him and noticed he needed a diaper change. So I laid him down to change him and noticed that his arm didn't sit right. I knew right then that he had broken it and so it was off to the ER for us.

The ER doc knew what kind of break it was just from looking at it, even before they took the x-ray. So after the x-ray confirmation I was told that this type of break requires surgery and pins to fix. Oh yeah, another surgery for him! Not thrilled about that but what can you do. So we waited for the ambulance to take us from the Grayslake ER to the Lake Forest hospital where he would be admitted and have surgery the next morning.

After arriving at LF and being admitted the doctor came into get medical history (why they didn't do this at the ER i'm not sure) and since he is such a complicated boy they told me they wouldn't do the surgery and that we would need to be transferred to Children's in Chicago. So again we waited for the ambulance, went through an ER and was finally admitted to Children's.

We stayed the night, Taevin had surgery the next morning, stayed another night and was sent home the next day. They gave him the option of pink or blue for his cast color he picked PINK! I over ruled and we went with blue.

After 4 weeks and a few follow up x-rays both the cast and pins were removed.  They just pulled the pins out with a pair of pliers!!! Not a pretty sight, my poor little guy! My little warrior is amazing and was super brave through out the whole thing.

Summer fun in the sun!

Remember how we finally got our swimming pool set up? Well it was time to put it to good use.
